Do we really need this much snow?

It started snowing Friday afternoon, but wasn't really even covering the ground until the evening. We woke up to about 17" inches! I don't know where all of it is going to go, the city is still a complete mess. All we did yesterday was dig out the driveway and the cars, and run around the yard making little paths for the dogs.
Throw the snowball!!

The pugs are not impressed, they're fine with small amounts of snow, but this is just crazy. Indy on the other hand loves it. As soon as she dries off, she wants to go right back outside. She's become a tad o.c.d. about throwing snowballs.

It's going to be a very muddy spring........

It started snowing in Delaware on Friday too. We got 24 inches of snow. Today they are forecasting another 10 to 18 inches. I haven't finished shoveling yet. I think we are going to look into purchasing a snow blower.

When it snows in Pittsburgh, what is the typical amount of snowfall? My mom remembers it snowing often in Pittsburgh but she couldn't tell me how much snow would fall at a time. We rarely get snow in Delaware. When we do get snow it's 2 to 4 inches at a time. 2 to 4 inches is so easy to shovel.

I've lived in Pittsburgh for about 13 yrs, and I still don't know what i would call "typical". 21" definitely is not typical for us.

Some years we barely have any snow at all, others we constantly seem to be getting an inch or so at a time and then there's this mess!
